BMMUK at Parliament

Our Head of Clinical Services was invited to be a witness at the Parliament Health and Social Care committee today.

The work that we do is delivered for, by and alongside the Black community and today, Darlington talked about the vital work that our organisation delivers as well as highlighting some of the challenges that the work brings. A lack of access to statutory funding, systemic barriers and stigma within the community were discussed as well as some case studies evidencing our impact.

We work solidly behind the scenes every day and without the intervention of support from public services as well as the Government acknowledging the need for our service, the work is tougher than it should be.

However, 'we move'. Today, tomorrow and every day.

We have a seat at a table, let's hope that it signals a positive change in mental health provision for our community. 🖤🖤

Advocacy in Action.
