‘Why we’re supporting BMMUK’- Young Goat

At Young Goat, our ethos is to inspire confidence and improve self-esteem in everyone through our clothing. We’ve previously discussed some of the ways in which we have raised money for BMMUK already, which include two separate auctions, where in one we released 4 one-off, ‘black out’ items, as well as running 2000km as a community during MHAW (Mental Health Awareness Week). However, this is our biggest undertaking to date by some distance. Both BMMUK and Young Goat have been implementing and supporting change for a brighter future for over a year now. Together, we are creating an awareness campaign to coincide with Black History Month in the UK this October. For it, we shall be releasing a T-shirt to the public, all profits of which will go to BMMUK.

The topic of black mental health was sadly brought into sharp focus for us all at Young Goat earlier this year, with the passing of our friend and colleague Olisa Odukwe, who lost his battle with mental health at only 20 years old. This tragedy further emphasises how important this initiative is and invigorated our desire to make it a success. A purple heart has been added to the t-shirt sleeve in Olisa’s memory, an addition that we have made due to his love for UK rapper Dave and his song Purple Heart.

We hope you can help us bring this campaign to national attention, so that we can raise as much money for the charity as possible, as well as raise awareness of the cause and of the services that BMMUK provide to so many in need. Help us give black people a louder voice. Thank you.

The t-shirt is now live and available to buy via the young goat website! Head to www.younggoat.co.uk for more info.
